On Saturday  the 14^th May 2011 at Llanelli pool

The West Wales Lifesaving championships will be held

This competition is aimed at putting the lifesaving
skills learnt in the classroom and pool to a practical use in a competition
environment

 There are 4 elements to the event

Rope throw

Juniors throw an unweighted rope to their partner
10mtrs away and then pull them in

Seniors throw 12mtrs

Quickest time wins although   accuracy and speed are needed

Swim and tow

Juniors swim 25mtrs then tow their partner 25m

Seniors swim 50 m and tow for 50 m

This section tests your fitness and towing ability

Simulated emergency rescue scenario

You have 90 seconds to asses the scenario and using your lifesaving and first aid skills and
knowledge deal with a water based scenario

First aid incident

Following this you have 90 seconds to deal with a
first aid incident again using your knowledge and skills

Do well and you could be going onto the Welsh
competition where the winners of that go to represent Wales in the British
finals in Sheffield usually in November
